Beyond Flesh

Beyond Flesh (2022 - ongoing) is a multidisciplinary dialogue between Fetto and other artists exploring the urge of mutant desire in contemporary society. The work spans photography, film, painting, and installation, and includes collaborative works with Willy Ndatira, Gray Wielebinski, Ines Michelotto, Agnes Questionmark and others:

" The contemporary body can be reconstructed in a multiplicity of ways, through surgery, drugs, hormones, digital identities, makeup and prosthetics. One’s body is no longer a fate but a series of decisions. It is the emergence of the mutant body.
The body is a site of our presence in the world and a testimony to our unfolding identities but it is also our social link with the Other.
Our work together and Jo Fetto’s photographic tableaus uses the human subject and body to transform, transgress and transcend. 
We use the forces of imagination and desire in this sense we are going Beyond Flesh."

Cyber-Odalisque

"JG Ballard's novel Crash holds a crucial role in helping me come to terms with my own disability. Ballard's juxtaposition of flesh and metal, organic and artificial, visceral and virtual, has been a fertile ground for parallelisms to the experience of people with disabilities, whose lives often rely on mechanical aids such as wheelchairs, prosthetics, implants and crutches. For this project, I wanted to use Ballard's aestheticized and sexualized vision of the machine to review one of the most famous and controversial subjects of Western art, the Odalisque. While the set and model adhere to the conventions of representation, the traditional bed, or triclinium, is replaced by my mechanical wheelchair. The model's body becomes tuned to the body of the wheelchair, creating a union that goes beyond the conventional harnessing of the technology in service of the human."
